ABOUT

I rest my eyes on the things around me.

I look at them, they call me.

Thus painting becomes the way to get closer to them: such as when a faded photo draws me to it until I touch its story, which then becomes mine, too.

Or when cups, books and old lamps move, in order to find the right position next to each other and be able to express the deepest and most intimate self of the person who loves them.

Mine is a painting for which it is not enough to spread itself out on a pad of paper or on a traditional canvas, but one that needs a suitable medium from time to time to express itself: be it thick and irregular jute, or a fabric as velvety and compact as the darkness, or the woods of a life long-lived.

Paola Folicaldi Suh is an Italian painter who lives between Italy (Fermo) and Sweden (Sigtuna, Stockholm region).

In addition to painting, she studied restoration (“Institute of Book Pathology” Rome and “Book School” Urbino).

This allowed her to deepen her study of the techniques and materials used in the past.

Her painting combines her wealth of knowledge with great sensitivity and an innate curiosity for the world around her, often resulting in an original interpretation.
